The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

In October 2005 Derek made his third expedition to Tibet in the company of three other AC members, Martin and Al Scott and Bill Thurston. On this occasion they explored the rarely-visited region of the Habuqung Shan to the west of Lhasa where they successfully made the first ascent of Dobzebo's north and southwest summits by two independent routes.
Derek will be discussing both of these climbs and his experiences of Tibet at the Alpine Club's premises of 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 27 May 2025.
