The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Anna was a member of the 2024 AC expedition to Bolivia which successfully climbed classic peaks such as Pequeño Alpamayo (5370m) and Huayana Potosí (6088m), in addition to attempting others. As an author she also met and interviewed the Cholita Climbers, a group of Aymara indigenous women climbers. The Cholitas climb and guide at high altitude in their traditional dress, the pollera - huge skirts, 3 petticoats and an agoyu (a knotted blanket that serves as a backpack). In this talk Anna will discuss both the climbs and the challenges facing the Cholitas.
The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 11 March 2025.
For safety reasons, we are required to keep a register of all attendees. If you plan to attend, please complete the form below. (This applies to both members and non-members).
There is no official charge for entry, but we do ask non-members to make a small contribution towards the continued running of the lectures if they are able.
