In October 2023, Tom Davis-Merry, Thomas Simpson, Kasia Piatek, Ula Stopka-Farooqui, Sam Poletti, and Elie Jaumin travelled to the Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim. Their objective was a series of unclimbed 5000m peaks surrounding the little-explored Brumkhangse glacial system. As relentless snow and rain caused mass flooding and widespread destruction in the region, the team narrowly avoided evacuation by the Indian military. Determined to continue climbing, they sought out several weather windows to make first ascents of Dhairya Peak (5595m), Thoda Peak (5604m) and Sara Peak (5844m). This lecture is their story of adventure, mishaps, and forging friendships in the Indian Himalaya.
