Becoming a MemberDates: A 10-day period from Friday 20th January to Monday 30th January 2017.
Detail:
Over a 10-day period from 20th January to Monday 30th January 2017 the Alpine Club will hold its first meet, together with a number of Romanian climbers, in the mountains of Transylvania.
Location:
This will involve two venues:
These areas give the opportunity for multi-pitch mixed climbs, similar in scale to the Tatra with days of Scottish winter length, icefall climbing up to WI4, ski touring, and general winter mountaineering, ridge traversing etc.
The meet will be jointly organized by Victor Saunders and Romanian guide Cosmin Andron, who assures us that there is plenty of potential in both areas even if conditions/weather are poor. More details and exact timing will be available in due course.
Still to be confirmed but it looks like accommodation will be hotel based with breakfast, packed lunch and dinner provided. – Watch this space…
Getting there:
Travel will be by hire car or van from low-cost-airline gateway cities such as Bucharest.
Cost: TBA
